- False alarms are one step closer to being
solved with the creation of the VIR-100 Video/Infrared Dual Motion Technology
(Patent Pending) alarm activation device from Security Labs, Inc. The VIR-100
combines the best of both worlds of Passive Infrared and Video Motion
Detection into one smart device. The limitations of both technologies are
overcome by combining their strengths in a serial format. Each element must
agree on the cause for activation before an alarm output trigger is
generated. Historically, passive infrared motion
detectors have been plagued
by false triggers from sudden heat changes or movement just outside of the
desired detection zone. Video motion detection, while being able to
accurately target a detection zone, can be false triggered by changes in
lighting. By summing the detection devices inside of this CCD
B/W camera,
accurate detection zones without false triggers are now possible. A grid of
144 video motion detection points can be selected ON or Off to establish an
exact field of coverage. IR LEDS for night vision and a stylish weatherproof
case design make the VIR-100 extremely versatile.

- VIR-101: The
same motion detection protocol as the VIR-100 with a color CCD image
sensor
.
-
- VIR-50:
- Retain the false
alarm protection of the VIR-100 & 101 while utilizing existing system
components. The VIR-50
easily installs in systems already equipped with a PIR and video camera.
Programmable detection zones allow coverage as needed.

- Central Indiana Hi-Tech Manufacturer
wins International New Products Competition

- Security Labs develops VIR motion
detector to reduce false alarms

- Las Vegas, NV,
April 7, 2005
- Security Labs, Inc.,
a designer and manufacturer of video security equipment from
Noblesville, IN, was announced as the winner of the Product Achievement
Award for False Alarm Reduction at the International Security Conference
(ISC West) New Product Showcase. The competition, sponsored by The
Security Industry Association, is held each year in Las Vegas at the
largest gathering of security manufacturers, distributors, and dealers
in the world. The focus of the competition is to spur new development
and to recognize the most innovative manufacturers in the industry.
-
- False alarm calls to
police departments and other emergency responders have reached epidemic
proportions in the past several years. In most cities, 99% of the
alarms that police respond to are generated by faulty equipment or user
error. The drain on police resources by responding to false alarms has
caused many municipalities to create non-response policies or impose
heavy fines for multiple infractions. The product created by Security
Labs, called the VIR-100, combines video motion analysis and passive
infrared light detection to verify that an intruder is the cause for the
alarm. The new technology will ignore conditions that can cause false
triggers with today’s most popular types of motion detectors.
-
- “We are excited
about the many applications for this product and hope it will help bring
credibility back to alarm systems in general. We will use our
manufacturing expertise to make the product affordable at all levels and
offer custom versions to other manufacturers on an OEM basis,” stated
Dennis Snyder, President of Security Labs. Snyder also said, “We are
honored by this award and trust it will be a spring board into our
mission to eliminate equipment-related reasons for false alarms within
five years.”
-
- “On behalf of the
Security Industry Association and Reed Exhibitions, we’d like to extend
our congratulations to Security Labs. It gives us tremendous pride to
see winning companies, such as Security Labs, receive this industry
recognition and ultimately flourish,” said Dean Russo, Vice President,
ISC events and Richard Chace, SIA’s Executive Director.
